Bergamot Essential Oil
Bergamot Essential Oil History:
Bergamot essential oil is derived from the bergamot fruit, primarily grown in Calabria, Italy. Giorgio Gallesio suggested it results from a cross between a bitter orange and a lime.
Some believe bergamot came from the Orient, introduced to Europe by Crusaders, and its name may derive from the Turkish "beg armudi," meaning "lord's pear." Others think it was brought from the Canary Islands by Christopher Columbus and named after Berga, near Barcelona, where it was first cultivated.
The oil has a calming effect and its scent soothes the mind. It's purifying and ideal for diffusing, clearing the air while promoting relaxation and cheerfulness.
